What is a Financial Planner?

The term “financial planner” is broad one, as there are many different areas a planner can specialise in, much like a doctor.

These can range from tax planning, superannuation/retirement, investment planning, insurance etc.

However, the primary role of most financial planners is to help their clients reach their financial objectives/dreams efficiently and effectively.

The financial planner, in a way, acts as a guide for their clients.

They do this by understanding what it is a client really wants, financially. They then develop a financial strategy that considers these objectives and the client’s current financial situation.

It used to be a common thought that financial planners were specific to ultra-rich people with millions of dollars in assets and a large income to follow.

Nowadays, it is clear that financial planning can be for anyone. From the young tradesperson who is looking for advice on budgeting and investments, to the older couple who want to discuss their future retirement and insurances.

Here at Lighthouse Financial Advisers, we are experts in retirement planning. Our approach to financial planning is:
  1. Minimise your tax.
  2. Add an extra $500,000 to your superannuation balance in the 10 years prior to retirement.
  3. Live tax-free during retirement.

There is a lot involved in our process, but these principles remain the same for everyone we work with.
